Bibles

Image
Today I was looking around this supper cool site called Zondervan.com . In the end I was looking through some really cool bibles! I believe that having a bible and using it is very important and everyone should have a physical version! There are SO many really cool Bibles that are designed for specific people. I have some digging and today I want to show you a few of my personal favourites (A few I would LOVE to own). So if you're looking for a new Bible for yourself or for somebody else, I've got you covered. Let's go! For Trendy Teen Girls This is the NIV Bible for Teen Girls . It is a hardcover NIV bible that was specifically designed for teen girls! It is beautifully designed with devotions from authors like Bethany Hamilton and Christine Caine. Throughout the Bible there are special verses that have been highlighted in pink and character profiles of women in the Bible. This bible costs $29.99, $20.39 on Amazon  or even $19.99 on Christianbooks . For The

How Are We Supposed To Act Around Boys?

As young Christian woman living in a sinful world there are expectations of how we are to act around males. They vary from age, gender, culture and religious beliefs. There is no rule book that tells us how we are to act around men and often we will be told different things be different people. There are only little things in the Bible such as that we are to respect and submit to men. We are to serve them and be their helpers. We have already discussed this in a past post ( Men Vs. Women ). But, there are many questions that are still left unanswered. "Can we talk to them?" "Hug or handshake?" "Can girls even be friends with guys?" I was thinking about this the other day after a dinner with a team from the states and here was a guy my age. I was reflecting on my action, my words and I thought I had done pretty well considering I am a natural flirt ( Not and good thing and not to be proud of !). But, then I thought "What am I supposed to be measuri

Romans 12

Image
There is SO much to learn about modesty from Romans 12. Paul has a lot of wisdom to pass onto us. At first you may not see it all, but let me show you just as my big sister did this morning.  We will be mostly looking at the first two verses, but first, go read the chapter, then come back and we'll have a look at it together. You're ready now? Okay let's go! Firstly, there are many commands as to how we should act in this chapter and I'm sure you saw those. They are easy to find and understand. So we will do them first. I have found 17 in this chapter. They are all about our outwardly modesty, behaviour and character. Don't be worldly- v.2 Be humble- v.3 Be united- v.4 Use your gifts- v.6-8 Love others- v.10 Don't Hate- v.10 Don't be lazy- v.11 Be hopeful- v.12 Be patient- v.12 Help others- v.13 Be hospitable- v.13 Don't seek revenge- v.14, 17-19 Be kind to your enemies- v.14, 20-21 Be empathetic- v.15 Live in harmony- v.16 Don&#

Gods Deffinition(Part 1); A Word From Sarah

Image
I was reading a short article/ post by a young women named Sarah S. Wilson on her community named Modest Fashion on Google+ and I loved it. I didn't want to just rewrite since it was her experience and her words. So here's what she had to say. "So in church this morning my pastor was preaching on modesty after he read the passage when Peter was "naked" and put on a coat before he jumped into the water to meet Jesus. Today's definition of "naked" and the Bible's definition of "naked" are completely different, so let me explain. When the Bible speaks of a person being "naked", it means that a man or woman is showing their shoulders, chest (complete torso), and thighs/knees. Ladies, in all honesty, if we're showing our chest, shoulders, knees and thighs, we're being immodest according to the Bible." There are ample examples in the bible for God's  design for modesty. All we have to do is open his

What Modesty Means to Me...

Image
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98PrKYQAXrw So, I made a YouTube video. My first real YouTube video is up! How crazy is that? I put it up today at about 1:00 my time after editing it for quite a while. I don't have the proper software and the quality isn't the best...Plus there is a giant watermark across it. Sorry about that! But I tried really hard and quite frankly, I think it turned our pretty well for my first video ever! I am proud of it and very happy to share it with you all. So, What is the video even about? It is practically me vocalizing what it means to be modest and where modesty comes from. It is just a visual, I guess, of my second blog post titled 'Modesty Mission' and going a little deeper into my arguments. It's a very brief short video, but for now it's just perfect. I really hope you like it and if you do I would really appreciate it if you let me know by either subscribing, liking or commenting. Thank you very much! Darcy-Rea

Women That Inspire Me

Image
There are many women in our lives that tell us all kinds of things. Some are good and some not so good. Today I will be sharing with you the women that inspired me to begin this mission to a biblical modesty and some of the things they have said or done that continue to help me on my journey. April Cassidy is the woman who first got me thinking about wearing only skirts and dresses and not only on Sundays. She is a YouTuber , Blogger and Author. I have been emailing back and forth with her personally for a few days now discussing some issues. She is a Godly woman who desires to serve God through leading young women. Her blogs are The Peaceful Wife   and The Peaceful Single Girl . All of which, including her YouTube channel, have been a great encouragement to me. The Eck and Nickle women . We worship with two Mennonite families every Sunday and fellowship with them during the week. The women in these two families, Mrs. Barbra, Mrs. Tamara, Ashley and their teacher Miss La

Why I Enjoy Dressing Modestly

Image
Hello, Since I have started intentionally dressing modestly I have found that I really enjoy the way I am dressing now. I love it! Why? Let me explain... Firstly, I have NO regrets anymore. I looked at a photo of myself from about two years ago. I was playing baseball. I was wearing a singlet/ tank top and shorts. I regret that choice now. And at that time I made many bad choices with my clothes. And at the time I knew  that there was a risk that I would get caught rolling up my shorts a few extra times or pulling my shirt down a little further. But I have no regrets with the way I dress now. I no longer have to be so careful of my movements. I don't have to watch myself when I lean over or bend down because I know that what I am wearing covers me appropriately and there is little risk that my chest, too much of my legs or my stomach show. Now, wearing skirts I do have to be weary when I ride my bike or run to make sure that it does not ride up mu legs to go up with the win

3 Ways to Respect Men

Image
Hello, I have already talked about what our roles are as women vs. men. And as a part of that role we are to respect and submit to men wether they are your husband, boyfriend, father, brother, pastor or friend. Here are three simple ways you can do so; Firstly, listen to him! "What does this entail?" you may ask. You can start by giving him your full attention and eye contact. Refrain from interrupting him and try to understand and digest what he is saying and respond respectfully. Do things for him! This is a simple one. As I said in a previous post, our role as a woman is to serve and support your husband (Or other men). So, we can do this by doing things for him such as keeping your house/room tidy, cooking for him, do grocery shopping or help out around the house if your still young like me. You could even do things he enjoys with him every once in a while. And finally, be a respectable woman. That's right, the best way to respect men is to be respectab
