As I've said before, I love Pinterest! It's great for gathering and storing ideas and inspiration. I gather so many different photos from Modesty ideas to backgrounds for my phone. I think I may have too many boards! Well, I have a few that I would like to share with you today. Just click on a heading to be brought to the board and don't worry, it'll open in a new tab. Modest Fashion Here is where I collect lots of photos of beautiful dresses and skirts. It gives me plenty of ideas and inspiration for my own dressing. This would be a great place to look if you want to buy new dresses or skirts too. Sometimes I wish I could just have all these beautiful clothes. But who would need that many? As I'm writing this there are over 200 photos on this board! Here are a few of my favourite photos from it.        Head Covering Tutorials There aren't very many pins in this one. Just twelve at the moment. But for a beginner like me these can be very hel

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

Image
We all know the Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes song right? If not, you may want to hear it before continuing. So, here's a link for you to hear it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m-1YKx-9uc Okay, now that we're all on the same page you're probably wondering why we're talking about this children's nursery rhyme. Well, believe it or not we can use this simple song to check that the way we are dressed it modest before we leave the house. Before I go any further I need to mention that this was not my original idea. I watched a video a while back where a girl presented this idea. However, I couldn't find the video again. If one you guys find it send me the link in the comments bellow. Also, this has been slightly changed from the original to fit my beliefs and convictions. You can do the same to make this your own. So, go ahead and stand up as we go through this. Firstly, touch your head. When you touch your head is your stomach showing? And for me

The Princess and The Feminist

Image
I am a Pinterest kind of girl and the other day as I was scrolling through Pinterest when I saw this photo... This made me stop and think for a minute. It made me think because, to be honest, I was waiting for my prince. And I'm sure I'm not alone in that. But God created us beautifully and fully capable of living and thriving without a man in our lives. Sure it would be lovely to have a partner in crime but God has a plan for you and I in the mean time. Now you may be thinking this sounds a little like 'Feminism' but it is definitely not! Let's have a look at this deeper shall we? What is feminism and a feminist? On a base level... 'So, a feminist is a person who fights for gender equality?' Yep. 'So then what's so bad about it then?' Okay let me explain myself a little here. I believe that God created men and women equally but with different roles and men the dominant, stronger gender. Read more here if you want to... Men Vs.

Where (NOT) to Draw the Line for Purity

Image
My lovely older sister, Jordy , is a fantastic roll model to me and also a wonderful writer. She has taught me a lot over the years and I can always rely on her in times of need. She is 17 years old and almost finished high-school. She is in the process of writing and editing her first books! She also has a blog of her own and today's post is written by her. It's all about purity and where we are to (not) draw the line.

What makes marriage work?

Image
I was talking with my cousin the other day over a hot cup of coffee. We were discussing marriage, what makes a marriage work and how to be a good wife. What characteristics are found in a good, strong, God honouring marriage? Kids, teens have dream jobs. They look forward to be a teacher, scientist, cook or dancer. They dream and plan. They prepare themselves and practise. My sister wants to be an author. She is already practising and doing research. She is finding out what makes a good author and a good book. But I dream of the day I will be a wife and mother. I get funny looks when people ask me what I want to be and I answer a wife and mother. So I usually just say a teacher or nanny. And I really do want to be a teacher or nanny. But above all, my end goal, my final destination, my biggest dream is to be a good wife and mother. I look forward to the day when I am called a wife and I call him my husband. It makes me happy just thinking about it! So, after talking to my cousi

Submitting to Men Means...

I believe that God made men and women equal but with different roles and purposes. And I think that our world has strayed so far from this perfect design God had for men and women in the garden of Eden. I was thinking about this today as I did my laundry. I have another most addressing this issue in more depth titled Men Vs. Women . I am also very passionate about this subject so I wanted to tell you what I believe it does and doesn't mean (to me) when I chose to submit to men. When I submit to men it does not mean I'm weak. When I submit to men it does not mean I'm important. When I submit to men it does not mean I'm not valued. When I submit to men it does not mean I'm uneducated. When I submit to men it does not mean I'm incapable. When I submit to men it does not mean I'm oppressed. When I submit to men it does not mean I'm used. When I submit to men it does not mean I'm abused. When I submit to men it does not mean I'm forced to.

Bibles

Image
Today I was looking around this supper cool site called Zondervan.com . In the end I was looking through some really cool bibles! I believe that having a bible and using it is very important and everyone should have a physical version! There are SO many really cool Bibles that are designed for specific people. I have some digging and today I want to show you a few of my personal favourites (A few I would LOVE to own). So if you're looking for a new Bible for yourself or for somebody else, I've got you covered. Let's go! For Trendy Teen Girls This is the NIV Bible for Teen Girls . It is a hardcover NIV bible that was specifically designed for teen girls! It is beautifully designed with devotions from authors like Bethany Hamilton and Christine Caine. Throughout the Bible there are special verses that have been highlighted in pink and character profiles of women in the Bible. This bible costs $29.99, $20.39 on Amazon  or even $19.99 on Christianbooks . For The

How Are We Supposed To Act Around Boys?

As young Christian woman living in a sinful world there are expectations of how we are to act around males. They vary from age, gender, culture and religious beliefs. There is no rule book that tells us how we are to act around men and often we will be told different things be different people. There are only little things in the Bible such as that we are to respect and submit to men. We are to serve them and be their helpers. We have already discussed this in a past post ( Men Vs. Women ). But, there are many questions that are still left unanswered. "Can we talk to them?" "Hug or handshake?" "Can girls even be friends with guys?" I was thinking about this the other day after a dinner with a team from the states and here was a guy my age. I was reflecting on my action, my words and I thought I had done pretty well considering I am a natural flirt ( Not and good thing and not to be proud of !). But, then I thought "What am I supposed to be measuri

Romans 12

Image
There is SO much to learn about modesty from Romans 12. Paul has a lot of wisdom to pass onto us. At first you may not see it all, but let me show you just as my big sister did this morning.  We will be mostly looking at the first two verses, but first, go read the chapter, then come back and we'll have a look at it together. You're ready now? Okay let's go! Firstly, there are many commands as to how we should act in this chapter and I'm sure you saw those. They are easy to find and understand. So we will do them first. I have found 17 in this chapter. They are all about our outwardly modesty, behaviour and character. Don't be worldly- v.2 Be humble- v.3 Be united- v.4 Use your gifts- v.6-8 Love others- v.10 Don't Hate- v.10 Don't be lazy- v.11 Be hopeful- v.12 Be patient- v.12 Help others- v.13 Be hospitable- v.13 Don't seek revenge- v.14, 17-19 Be kind to your enemies- v.14, 20-21 Be empathetic- v.15 Live in harmony- v.16 Don&#

Gods Deffinition(Part 1); A Word From Sarah

Image
I was reading a short article/ post by a young women named Sarah S. Wilson on her community named Modest Fashion on Google+ and I loved it. I didn't want to just rewrite since it was her experience and her words. So here's what she had to say. "So in church this morning my pastor was preaching on modesty after he read the passage when Peter was "naked" and put on a coat before he jumped into the water to meet Jesus. Today's definition of "naked" and the Bible's definition of "naked" are completely different, so let me explain. When the Bible speaks of a person being "naked", it means that a man or woman is showing their shoulders, chest (complete torso), and thighs/knees. Ladies, in all honesty, if we're showing our chest, shoulders, knees and thighs, we're being immodest according to the Bible." There are ample examples in the bible for God's  design for modesty. All we have to do is open his

What Modesty Means to Me...

Image
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98PrKYQAXrw So, I made a YouTube video. My first real YouTube video is up! How crazy is that? I put it up today at about 1:00 my time after editing it for quite a while. I don't have the proper software and the quality isn't the best...Plus there is a giant watermark across it. Sorry about that! But I tried really hard and quite frankly, I think it turned our pretty well for my first video ever! I am proud of it and very happy to share it with you all. So, What is the video even about? It is practically me vocalizing what it means to be modest and where modesty comes from. It is just a visual, I guess, of my second blog post titled 'Modesty Mission' and going a little deeper into my arguments. It's a very brief short video, but for now it's just perfect. I really hope you like it and if you do I would really appreciate it if you let me know by either subscribing, liking or commenting. Thank you very much! Darcy-Rea

Women That Inspire Me

Image
There are many women in our lives that tell us all kinds of things. Some are good and some not so good. Today I will be sharing with you the women that inspired me to begin this mission to a biblical modesty and some of the things they have said or done that continue to help me on my journey. April Cassidy is the woman who first got me thinking about wearing only skirts and dresses and not only on Sundays. She is a YouTuber , Blogger and Author. I have been emailing back and forth with her personally for a few days now discussing some issues. She is a Godly woman who desires to serve God through leading young women. Her blogs are The Peaceful Wife   and The Peaceful Single Girl . All of which, including her YouTube channel, have been a great encouragement to me. The Eck and Nickle women . We worship with two Mennonite families every Sunday and fellowship with them during the week. The women in these two families, Mrs. Barbra, Mrs. Tamara, Ashley and their teacher Miss La

Why I Enjoy Dressing Modestly

Image
Hello, Since I have started intentionally dressing modestly I have found that I really enjoy the way I am dressing now. I love it! Why? Let me explain... Firstly, I have NO regrets anymore. I looked at a photo of myself from about two years ago. I was playing baseball. I was wearing a singlet/ tank top and shorts. I regret that choice now. And at that time I made many bad choices with my clothes. And at the time I knew  that there was a risk that I would get caught rolling up my shorts a few extra times or pulling my shirt down a little further. But I have no regrets with the way I dress now. I no longer have to be so careful of my movements. I don't have to watch myself when I lean over or bend down because I know that what I am wearing covers me appropriately and there is little risk that my chest, too much of my legs or my stomach show. Now, wearing skirts I do have to be weary when I ride my bike or run to make sure that it does not ride up mu legs to go up with the win

3 Ways to Respect Men

Image
Hello, I have already talked about what our roles are as women vs. men. And as a part of that role we are to respect and submit to men wether they are your husband, boyfriend, father, brother, pastor or friend. Here are three simple ways you can do so; Firstly, listen to him! "What does this entail?" you may ask. You can start by giving him your full attention and eye contact. Refrain from interrupting him and try to understand and digest what he is saying and respond respectfully. Do things for him! This is a simple one. As I said in a previous post, our role as a woman is to serve and support your husband (Or other men). So, we can do this by doing things for him such as keeping your house/room tidy, cooking for him, do grocery shopping or help out around the house if your still young like me. You could even do things he enjoys with him every once in a while. And finally, be a respectable woman. That's right, the best way to respect men is to be respectab

Down to my waist!

Image
Hello, Today I am going to try to convince you to not do strapless dresses. I know, I know! You look good in them, they suit you. But please just hear me out before you say anything. So I was in grade 8 (Or secondary 2) and I had this good friend, who shall remain nameless. She is Cuban, so you can imagine that she is quite a curvy girl. One day she arrived at school in a strapless dress and holding another (We went to a public school!). She wanted me to wear it for the day. After a bit of convincing I agreed. I went about my business as usual but I was continuously pulling up the dress and adjusting it. I survived French and Maths class, I think it was, and even lunch without any mishaps. Then in third period just after lunch we had art class, my favourite! It was a very social class, so we were aloud to walk around and talk with people as we worked. So, towards the end of class I decided to go and talk to my friend Carl. Carl was like my brother, in fact at the beginning of

Women Vs. Men

Image
Hello, Are men and women equal? Or are women under men because he man first? God created men and women equal! This is very important. He also created us with different roles. This is also very important. God created women for men, for us to submit to them. This does not mean the women are less than men or that we have no value. God calls men to respect and love women, especially their wives. There were many laws put in place in the old testament to ensure that women were taken care of by men. God created us all equal. We each have different a job and purpose in life that is unique to our gender. One cannot go without the other as our roles complement each other. This is the way God designed it to be. God created women to be wives and mothers, to cook and clean and without that can you imagine what this world would be like? Now I am not saying that men are not allowed to cook or clean. In fact a husband that helps out around the house is always respected in my book. God created m
